We Love to Talk Communications
Israel Cell Phone Rental
All participants of CIM must provide us with a cell phone number for a phone which they will carry during the ride.
Israeli cell phones, blackberries and modems are available for rent from Amigo-US.
Complete rental information, including rates and a rental form are available at www.amigo-us.com/beit-halochem.
Phones rented from Amigo can be picked up in New York City, Toronto, Las Angeles, and other locations as listed on the Amigo-US website. If you do not live near a pick up location, phones will be shipped to you at a cost of $10 for standard shipping which requires at least 10 days. If you miss the standard shipping cut off, the shipping cost is $20.
Phones can be returned at any pick up location, by standard shipping for $10 or inJerusalem at 34 Ben Yehuda Street. If you plan to return your phone in Jerusalem, arrangements must be made with the New York office in advance.
Electrolyte Powder and Snacks
Be sure to bring your preferred electrolyte powder for the ride. We will supply nutritious meals, snacks and water during the ride but you must provide your own electrolyte supplements for the water.
Transportation to the Beginning of the Ride
A bus will leave from the Sheraton Tel Aviv Hotel & Towers at 115 Hayarkon Street to Nachsholim. We will depart following Shabbat Saturday October 9 at 8:00pm. Cyclists should meet at the Sheraton with their luggage by 7:30pm.
If you will be meeting us at Nachsholim on Saturday night, please email courageinmotion@beithalochem.ca to let us know.
Bike Assembly
Bike assembly will take place at Beit Halochem Tel Aviv, (29 Shmuel Barcay Street, Afeka) on Friday October 8.
Bikes can be dropped off on Thursday October 7 at Beit Halochem.
Please inform us if you do not wish to be present while your bike is being assembled.
Bike assembly will be as follows:
- 9:00am - 1:30pm - for those that have arrived prior to Friday October 8
- 12:30pm - 1:30pm - for those arriving Friday morning
- 2:30pm - 4:00pm - for those arriving on Friday afternoon
We can assemble 12 bikes per hour; please email us what hour you would prefer. This will be allocated in the order requests are received.
While we do our best to ensure a smooth assembly line, neither Beit Halochem nor any of its contractors assumes responsibility for the assembly of your bike and the contents of your bike box, especially if you are not present when your bike is assembled.
Bike Packing & Disassembly
Bikes will be packed at Beit Halochem Tel Aviv following the ride and available Thursday night after the celebratory dinner there.
Light ‘N Little - Luggage
Your luggage will be transported daily from each overnight location to our next destination. Your luggage will be deposited at a secure central point at our accommodations and you will be required to carry it to your room. In some cases, there may be stairs to climb with no option of an elevator. Bring only what you are able to drag around yourself.
If you will be in Israel before or after the ride and therefore have excess luggage and clothing that you will not require during the ride, you can securely store your excess at one of the the Beit Halochem Centres. It is up to you to drop off your excess luggage at Beit Halochem prior to the ride. We will notify you of drop off times and exact locations by email closer to the ride.
Too tired to pedal?
We can look after that too – there will be sag wagons if you decide you’ve had enough of that bike.
Your bike won’t go?
We will have bike mechanics during the day along the route and at our overnight accommodations. You will be responsible for the cost of any parts which we provide in the repair process. This includes inner tubes and tires.
CO2 Cartridges
For those of you who use CO2 cartridges, airlines do not allow them either in checked luggage or as carryon. If the canisters are detected in your luggage, you will have to throw them out at the airport. It is likely that CO2 cartridges are sold at bike stores in Israel and you may purchase them prior to the ride.
Spare parts you should bring
It is highly recommended that you bring extra cleats. We will not have the cleats you require in Israel and if your cleats break, which happens, you will not be able to ride.
If your bike has any unique parts that you are concerned you might need to replace in Israel, bring extras with you.
Morning Start Time
The ride will start each morning PROMPTLY at 7:00 or 7:30. It is important to start early to avoid cycling in the heat of the day. Come psyched to jump out of bed early. Bring a travelling alarm clock.
Ride Pace
The ride will be split into groups, according to pace, daily kilometres and difficulty of terrain. The routes will be posted shortly so you can decide which group you would like to join. Groups offer a quality ride for the varying levels of cyclists and you will not be disappointed.
For security reasons it is necessary that riders stay fairly close together with their group. At rest stops, a group will not be able to proceed until the entire group has arrived and had a chance to eat and
drink.
