Travel Logistics

This section should answer many questions you may have about travel. Please read it.

At the beginning – How do I get there?

Passport Requirements:

Your passport must be valid for six months prior to your return date or you will not be allowed to board the plane to go to Israel.  Please check your passport now and ensure that the expiration date is more than six months after your return date. You must get a new passport if the expiration date of your current passport is less than six months from your return date!

Crossing the Ocean

Each participant is responsible for making their own travel arrangements to and from Israel. We will advise you of a local travel agent who will assist you with flight arrangements.

EL AL provides free transport of bikes to all travellers provided that the bike is boxed and only one other piece of luggage is checked.  If a traveller has two pieces of luggage to check plus a bike, the bike will be charged as an additional piece of luggage.  Please enquire with your travel agent or EL AL directly to confirm the charge.

Air Canada also allows only two pieces of checked luggage.  If you check two pieces of luggage plus your bike, you will be charged for an extra piece of luggage.  The charge is currently $225.  If your bike is your second piece of luggage, the fee for your bike is only $50. The Air Canada office in Israel has kindly agreed to waive the $50 bike fee from Tel Aviv to Toronto. If you have provided us with your flight details, there will be a note in your file about this. The Toronto - Tel Aviv bike fee of $50 will be applied. Please remember to register your bike with AC prior to departure.

Please verify the above information with your airline prior to departure due to the frequency with which these charges change.

Single Rooms

A limited number of single rooms are available. The rooms will be allocated in the order requests are received. All other accommodations are based on double occupancy.

There will be an additional charge of US$450 for each single room. Please email us if you would like a single room.

Transportation from the Airport

As soon as we have flight arrival information for all cyclists, we will circulate a list so that you can arrange shared transportation from the airport with other cyclists arriving at the same time as you.

Regular taxis are able to fit a bike box in the back seat, luggage in the trunk and one passenger in the front seat.

To prearrange airport pickup you may call Yossi Altman +972-50-5202094. Yossi owns a transportation company which can supply various sized vehicles and is experienced with bike transport.

It is important that you mention that you are part of the Beit Halochem ride when you call to arrange transportation. Please note Yossi is an independent contractor and Beit Halochem cannot take any responsibility for his reliability.
