Established in 1958, Beit Kay is a Rest and Recreation
Center for Zahal's disabled veterans and their families. It
was built in the northern resort town of Nahariya on land
donated by Mrs. Vera Weizmann, wife of Israel's first president,
the late Dr. Chaim Weizmann.
Originally, the center served the 6,000 disabled veterans
of the War of Independence, but after the Six Day War, it
was placed at the disposal of the Medical Corps, to be used
as a convalescent home for wounded soldiers. Through the years,
Beit Kay - with its full program of activities has continued
to attract thousands of Zahal disabled.
Today, the center is fully adapted to the needs of the handicapped,
particularly those who are paralyzed.
