Aid to Disabled Veterans of Israel, Beit Halochem Canada is an organization devoted to helping the more than 51,000 Israeli disabled veterans and victims of terrorism.

After the injured leave the hospital, they come to our rehabilitation, sports and cultural centres in Tel Aviv, Haifa, Jerusalem, Nahariya and the soon-to-be-built centre in Beer Sheva.

These young heroes will need specialized therapy and rehabilitation for the rest of their lives.

Your donations support ongoing programs and purchase much-needed equipment for the Beit Halochem centres, which boast an array of specialized facilities offering both physical and emotional support to the disabled victims, veterans and their families.

Giving them the help they need is our top priority!

Important notice: If you have left a bequest to us or are planning to leave us a gift in your will, PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOUR LAWYER RECEIVES THIS NOTE.

We are the only organization in Canada that supports the disabled Israeli veterans
and victims of terror through rehabilitation at centres in Israel.

Zahal Disabled Veterans Fund – ZDVF
The funds raised by the ZDVF are channeled into special projects, equipment, facilities, and activities all of which are intended to aid the disabled veterans in their long and arduous journey toward rehabilitation, and to once again become fully productive members of society.

Zahal Disabled Veterans Fund (ZDVF) is the financial arm of Zahal Disabled Veterans Organization, and its role is to allocate the financial resources available to the organization and to raise the funds necessary to build, develop, and maintain the Organization's facilities for the welfare and rehabilitation of Israel's disabled war veterans.

Israel's 51,000 disabled war veterans are part of the heavy price paid by our young country for its independence and survival. Unfortunately, through wars and acts of terror carried out against the State, their numbers have continued to grow. Today, as always, they are the heart and soul of our organization.

The ZDVO has been responsible for establishing the Beit Kay rest and recreation facility in Nahariya, and the three Beit Halochem Rehabilitation, Sport, and Recreation Centres in Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Jerusalem.

Approximately 11,000 disabled veterans and their families enjoy membership in the three centres where they can receive physical therapy, medical treatment, and a long list of sport and cultural activities geared to aid them in their physical and social rehabilitation.

The ZDVF not only raises funds to build and equip these facilities but must also provide sufficient funds for their operation and maintenance. None of this would be possible without the dedication, involvement, and generous support of our Friends organizations in Israel and abroad, and their genuine concern for the disabled veterans engaged in a heroic struggle to regain control of their lives in an atmosphere of love, encouragement, and appreciation for their families.

Zahal Disabled Veterans Organization - ZDVO
Founded in 1949, the ZDVO is the only officially recognized group representing disabled veterans. Its objectives are: to improve the quality of life of Zahal disabled, and to safeguard their legal rights and promote their interests through legislation or economic and social measures. ZDVO fosters the full reintegration of the veterans into society, by establishing sports and rehabilitation centers and offering a comprehensive range of services to its members.

Five branches - in Tel Aviv, Haifa, Jerusalem, Rehovot and Be'er Sheva - serve our members who live in all parts of Israel. Trained volunteers provide the services along with a professional staff that manages the day to-day affairs of the organization.

Every four years, elections are held to choose a National Assembly of 91 members, representing the head office and all branches of the ZDVO. This Assembly, in turn, elects the National Chairman, Treasurer, Comptroller, members of the Finance Committee and a 21 member Board of Directors, comprised of branch representatives.

The national Board of Directors designates a Board of Trustees, made up of ZDVO members and public figures, to govern the four main facilities: Beit Halochem Centers in Tel Aviv, Haifa and Jerusalem, and Beit Kay in Nahariya.

The ZDVO runs another major program in which more than 7,000 disabled veterans have enjoyed visits abroad as guests of the Jewish communities in Switzerland, Great Britain, Holland, the United States and Canada. This noteworthy venture has forged strong links between the Diaspora host communities and the disabled defenders of the State of Israel.
